As Safety Manager, you are responsible for overseeing the company's overall safety program, ensuring a safe work environment for all employees, and maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable safety standards. Your role is essential in fostering a proactive safety culture, preventing workplace incidents, and ensuring operational excellence.
Responsibilities- Policy & Compliance:
- Develop, implement, and enforce company safety policies and procedures in compliance with OSHA and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all employees are informed of and follow established safety protocols.
- JSA Oversight:
- Ensure all foremen complete daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA) sheets.
- Maintain organized records of JSA sheets for insurance and compliance purposes.
- Inspections &
Risk Management:- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards.
- Recommend and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
- Incident Management:
- Lead thorough investigations of workplace accidents and near-misses.
- Provide detailed reports with root cause analysis and preventative recommendations.
- Training &
Education:- Organize and conduct safety training sessions, including new hire orientations and ongoing employee safety education.
- Ensure training records are accurately maintained.
- Documentation & Recordkeeping:
- Maintain up-to-date records of safety incidents, compliance reports, inspections, and employee training.
- Employee Engagement:
- Promote safety awareness and reinforce a positive safety culture across all departments.
- Support management in addressing safety concerns or violations reported by employees.
- Regulatory Awareness:
- Stay informed of updates to OSHA regulations and industry safety standards to ensure continuous compliance.
- Emergency Preparedness:
- Assist in emergency response planning and coordinate safety drills to ensure readiness.
- Collaboration & Support:
- Work closely with HR and management to resolve safety-related issues and support company-wide safety initiatives.
- Maintain a visible and active presence across worksites.
- Proactively identify areas for improvement and drive continuous safety enhancements.
- Communicate clearly and consistently with both leadership and field teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Environmental Health, or related field preferred.
- Certification in safety-related programs (OSHA 500, First Aid/CPR, CSP, or similar) is a plus.
- 5 years of proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and training skills.
- Ability to conduct investigations and prepare detailed reports.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with Avetta, ISN safety portals.
