View Point Health Adult Residential Substance Detoxification is a short‑term, 24/7 acute care detox unit located in Covington, GA. Care is primarily focused on supervision, observation, and support for individuals during withdrawal management. Residential Withdrawal Management emphasizes medical monitoring and peer/social support.
We are seeking a Charge Nurse to join our multi‑disciplinary team, responsible for leading the nursing team and managing nursing services in a medical detoxification residential program. This role requires expertise in psychiatric nursing and a commitment to person‑centered care. The Charge Nurse will assist with implementing unit programming based on evidence‑based practices for substance use detox, brief treatment, and early recovery supports.
Will oversee, assist with guiding, and/or instructing the work assignments of subordinate staff. Assist with planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a unit or shift. Ensure that staff assess client health problems and needs. Under broad supervision, assesses client health problems and needs. Develops and implements nursing care plans and maintains medical records. Administers nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled clients.
May advise clients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
- Responsible for implementing and overseeing nursing services in the detoxification program.
- Works closely with the interdisciplinary team, discipline leads, and other professionals to provide support and coverage as necessary.
- Ensures all quality measures are met, including treatment plans, orders, authorizations, daily notes, treatment team documentation, coverage by nursing, and assessments completed within 24 hours according to DBHDD standards.
- Develop and refresh workflow processes and standard operating procedures; audits charts and ECR records on a weekly basis.
- Provide direct care to clients, including conducting comprehensive nursing assessments for admissions and daily nursing services.
- Completes all required documentation for intakes, admissions, daily progress notes, and discharges.
- Ensure all medical supplies are consistently stocked and available for use on the unit.
- Facilitate monthly nursing meetings and bi‑monthly unit meetings, including preparing meeting minutes.
- Assists the leadership with interviews and hiring of new nursing staff, including orienting and training new nurses.
- Facilitates skills and education groups on health and nursing‑related topics.
- Provide nursing staff training and attend leadership meetings and program/licensure training as required.
- Completes performance evaluations and disciplinary actions as needed.
- Reviews critical incident reports and implements appropriate actions related to medication errors and other events.
- Take calls from the unit after hours to provide support and assistance when necessary.
- Assess, receive, and evaluate clients coming from a community setting for detox.
- Assist with verbal de‑escalation of clients when necessary.
- Administer medications according to agency guidelines and policy standards.
- Provide coverage for nursing or direct care breaks and unit coverage as needed.
- Manage the nursing schedule, addressing staffing issues and managing call‑outs.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Note:
In the event of an uncovered shift, or call‑out where a replacement cannot be found, the Charge Nurse will provide coverage.
- Associate degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and current Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse.
- Three (3) years of professional nursing experience or one (1) year of experience at the lower‑level Registered Nurse 2 (HCP
071) or position equivalent.
