SummaryThe Assistant Manager is responsible for assisting and consulting the Store Manager regarding overall operations and administrative duties, including determining the methods and approaches necessary to accomplish the store’s goals. The Assistant Manager is knowledgeable in each product area or department in the store, upholds policies and procedures listed in the visual manual, and is passionate about providing outstanding customer service and promoting the merchandise.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of the store.
- Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
- Assist in overall personnel recruiting, training, and evaluation.
- Provide guidance to employees and customers in all departments when needed.
- Maintain awareness of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to meet departmental standards and responsibilities.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed.
- Deliver exceptional customer service as outlined in the customer service manual.
- Promote and sell the store’s merchandise and services.
- Uphold all company policies, procedures, and standards as listed in the various manuals.
- Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring effective internal controls.
Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager and carry out supervisory duties in accordance with company policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, training, and assigning work, as well as resolving problems.
Qualifications- Experience in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and achieving overall goals and profits.
- Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask precisely.
- Team player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
