Electrical Construction Field Supervisor

Picture your morning: you arrive at the site, review the drawings, and map out the day’s plan. You brief a crew of journeymen and helpers, assign tools and materials, and set milestones. As the day unfolds, you oversee installations, solve problems on energized and de-energized systems (with management approval where required), and keep the project moving safely and efficiently. That’s a typical day in this role.

What

  • Translate plans and specifications into clear work steps; plan labor, materials, and major tools for efficient execution.
  • Install systems effectively and to code; demonstrate mastery of electrical equipment and major tools.
  • Troubleshoot a full range of electrical systems and resolve field issues quickly.
  • Track progress and productivity; monitor the crew’s output and adjust plans as needed.
  • Code and submit accurate time sheets.
  • Assist with employee evaluations and help train team members.
  • Exhibit and apply skills aligned with lower E‑Rating Job Titles (E‑6, E‑5, E‑4, E‑3, E‑2, E‑1).
Licenses & Credentials
  • Valid Driver’s License and personal transportation (many sites are not served by public transit).
  • Current Electrical Journeyman or Master license.
  • High school diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent training.
  • 6+ years of prior electrical experience.
Where and How You’ll Work
  • All-weather, all-season work depending on location: heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Use of construction site sanitary facilities (Porta‑Johns).
  • Bring and carry your personal tool set at all times (typical waist tool belt ~30 lbs.).
  • Work from all ladder types (step ladders up to 14', “A” frames, and all extension ladders) and independently carry/relocate a 12' step ladder.
  • Observe ladder weight ratings:
    Class 1 – 250 lbs.;
Class 1A – 300 lbs. (combined body weight and tools).
  • Perform tasks at heights up to 90' using ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, or other approved platforms.
  • Operate in tight or confined spaces (switch gear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, attics).
  • Wear required PPE (hard hat and safety glasses at all times) and a respirator when required.
  • Expect repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
  • Typical schedule:

8 hours/day, 40 hours/week, with overtime and night shifts as needed.
  • Working conditions include all elements inside and outside.
Technical Capabilities You Bring
  • Accurate wire identification.
  • Read and interpret drawings, prints, and schematics.
  • Conduit bending by hand using hand benders.
  • Proficient with power tools: saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, knockout punches.

  • Safely operate equipment such as trenchers, backhoes, and lift trucks.
