Local Veterans’ Employment Representative (LVER) - Covington

The position is open to all applicants that meet the minimum qualifications below. The Local Veterans’ Employment Representative (LVER) is a full-time role within the Office of Workforce Development (OWD). The LVER is a key member of the Work Source Georgia employment services team, responsible for maintaining regular contact with employers, community leaders, training providers, and other partners with resources to support reemployment efforts for veterans or other eligible persons.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Conduct outreach activities within a designated area to secure gainful employment for veterans, which may include administering seminars for employers, facilitating job search workshops and establishing job search groups.
- Coordinate with unions, apprenticeship programs and businesses or business organizations to promote and secure employment, training programs and placement services, communicating the benefits of employing, and on behalf of, eligible veterans and other eligible persons.
- Monitor federal contractor job listings, promote veteran participation in employment and training programs, support services, educational opportunities, and assist with job accommodations for disabled veterans.
- Plan and participate in job, career and resource fairs, as well as conduct other job development activities in the local community to connect employers with qualified veterans and other eligible persons.
- Train other employment services staff and service delivery system partners to enhance their knowledge of veterans’ employment and training issues.
- Responsible for consulting and coordinating with various representatives from federal, state, and local programs and employers to promote the development of entry-level and career job opportunities, job training, apprenticeships, and vocational counseling services for veterans.
- Candidate must be a qualified, eligible veteran
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university; OR Associate’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
-and- two years of related experience; OR four years of related experience; OR two years of experience at the lower-level Employment Services Specialist or position equivalent.

Applicants who fail to submit the appropriate supporting documentation will be required to provide these documents, if selected to interview for the position.
- Knowledge of the Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA), related Wagner-Peyser (WP) Act, or the Jobs for Veterans State Grant (JVSG) program.
- Four years of experience in employment services, career or vocational guidance and counseling, personnel, recruitment, training or social services related work.
- Two years of experience serving special needs population with Significant Barriers to Employment.
- Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Experience delivering presentations in groups.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
- Time and task management skills
- Basic computer skills and ability to adapt to job-related software programs
- Organizational skills
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Skills in interpersonal relations and customer service
- Decision making and problem-solving skills
- Work performance involves light physical duties, including intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.
- Employees must be able to lift up to ten (10) pounds
