Forklift Operator
Location:
Covington, GA 30014
Payrate: $19/hr on W2
Duration: 12 months (possible extension / FTE)
Workdays/hours:
Mon - Thurs 8pm - 6:30am
Standard Hours Per Week: 40.00
Experience:
1–5 years
Must Have
- Ability to safely operate material handling equipment (MHE) such as:
- Electric pallet jacks
- Forklifts / high-reach trucks (or ability to become certified)
- Basic computer skills (data entry, scanning systems, manifests)
The Forklift Operator is responsible for the safe, accurate movement of products within the distribution center.
Job Responsibilities- Transport palletized product within the distribution center (unload, put away double deep, bulk and full pallet pick, load, replenishment)
- Operate material handling equipment, including high reach, counterbalance, electric pallet jack, and dock stocker.
- Use RF Scanner and WMS to ensure inventory accuracy and track products throughout the site.
- Ensure product integrity while performing all tasks.
- Follow site safety procedures, including required PPE (safety vest, safety shoes).
- Cross train and become knowledgeable in other areas. Provide backup support when required.
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred.
Experience:
- 1+ year of relevant experience required, Intermediate experience with either a high reach or counterbalance required.
- Experience with Manhattan WMS, preferred.
- Ability to obtain a forklift certification within 2 days of employment.
- Ability to read and interpret distribution documents in English.
- Ability to operate MHE and use an RF scanner.
- Basic analytical, organizational and prioritization skills.
- General distribution knowledge.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong initiative and drive for results.
While performing this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:
- Walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, balancing, and crouching
- Reaching, pushing/pulling, grasping, twisting, and lifting
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, feel, pick, or type, including repetitive motion of the wrists, hands, or fingers
- Occasional climbing
- Lifting over 50 lbs. may be required in some areas, but not all
- Normal field of vision, corrected to 20/40 in each eye
- Hearing sufficient to safely operate MHE (Material Handling Equipment) in a manufacturing/distribution environment
- Noise level may range from moderate to loud
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical equipment
- Exposure to potentially precarious situations
- Occasional exposure to fumes and/or airborne particles
- The position may require a mandatory medical evaluation in compliance with applicable occupational health and safety laws.
