The Office of Unemployment Insurance Operations (OUIO) runs Ohio's unemployment insurance program. This program provides temporary income to workers who lose their jobs through no fault of their own and supports local economies by keeping money in circulation. What You Will Do- Travel throughout an 8 to 10 county region to review employer payroll and business records for compliance with UI laws and regulations.
- Analyze multiple sources of information to verify accurate reporting and payment of UI taxes.
- Collect, organize, and evaluate data to make well-supported audit decisions.
- Educate employers on UI requirements and best practices.
- Manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and meeting strict deadlines. UI auditors must complete a set number of audits each month in addition to other duties, requiring strong time-management skills.
- Work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Demonstrate flexibility in a fast-paced environment.
- Communicate effectively with a wide range of individuals.
- Use a personal computer, calculator, and relevant software to prepare audit reports and worksheets.
The candidate, at minimum, must have the following:
Option 1:
- 12 months experience as an External Auditor 1
Option 2:
- 4 years experience in auditing or accounting, including 2 years auditing experience in accordance with auditing standards or prescribed management policies &/or procedures as specified on agency position description.
Option 3:
- Completion of undergraduate core coursework in accounting, business administration, computer science or related field AND 24 months experience in auditing or accounting, including 12 months auditing experience in accordance with auditing standards or in accordance with prescribed management policies &/or procedures as specified on agency position description.
Option 4:
- Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.
This position is in the State of Ohio’s OCSEA Pay Schedule, Pay Range 32. Starting salary is the minimum of that pay range (step 1, currently $31.47 per hour). Steps progress with time and annual adjustments.
Location and TravelLocation:
This position will be headquartered in an ODJFS Facility in one of the following cities
- Columbus, Akron, or Dayton. Proximity to the applicant's home address will be considered. Addresses include:
