Night Desk Assistant

Job Summary:

Student position for providing customer service to residents and guests, assisting community staff, managing mail, keys, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Provide exemplary customer service to residents, guests, visitors, faculty, and staff at community desks and office spaces.
  • Act as a resource for accurate information regarding Housing and university operations.
  • Assist with opening, closing, and transition of residence halls, including early arrivals and late departures during break periods and finals week.
  • Support, communicate, enforce, and abide by all university and department policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Follow appropriate protocols to address incidents and potential policy violations.
  • Assist office staff during a crisis or emergency, maintaining confidentiality.
  • Participate in departmental and community training sessions.
  • Attend staff meetings, community staff meetings, and one‑on‑one meetings with your supervisor.
  • Follow community desk policies for key management, equipment check‑out, and access control.
  • Sort, record, distribute, and forward mail, packages, and newspapers per USPS regulations.
  • Perform other duties consistent with the position as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Full‑time enrollment: at least half‑time (minimum six credit hours for undergraduates and professionals, five credit hours for graduate students during fall/spring semesters; summer terms may differ).
  • Good standing with the Office of Student Conduct and University Housing, with no pending conduct violations.
  • Must be available on May 11 for mandatory training.
