Payroll Assistant
Position Summary:
The Payroll Assistant is part of a customer‑focused team responsible for the oversight and processing of the University of Georgia payroll (approximately 25,500 W‑2s generated). The role monitors the payroll phone and email, triages tickets through the payroll ticketing system, assists customers at the window, and performs general customer service and administrative office functions.
- Assist with direct deposit setup, including entering information via virtual appointments or in person at the payroll window.
- Contact employees who cannot use self‑service to enter direct deposit and provide assistance.
- Serve as front‑line support, answering phone calls and forwarding inquiries to the appropriate team member.
- Monitor the payroll email account, send needed communications, and respond to customer inquiries.
- Act in a triage capacity for payroll/time and labor tickets in Team Dynamix and Service Now, assigning tickets to the correct team members as necessary.
- Assist with payroll queries and data updates, including updates to time and absence approvers based on requests in OneUSG Connect.
- Assist the Payroll Department with data requests for wage verifications, employment verifications, and payroll metrics; ensure prompt and accurate data collection.
- Assist with organization of garnishment processes, ensuring documentation is sent to the correct resources.
- Perform administrative functions such as processing mail, uploading documents to the Content 7 database, managing phones, ordering supplies, and paying recurring bills.
- Assist with additional payroll requests as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of payroll administration practices and procedures.
- Experience with People Soft‑based HCM software or other HRMS programs.
- Detail‑oriented with strong interpersonal and collaborative work style.
- Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive information.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
- Proficient to advanced experience with Microsoft applications.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Customer service skills.
Normal office activities. No driving required. Position includes security access and may involve interactions with financial resources.
