Position Overview

The Center Manager is responsible for the successful operation and profitability of a Grease Monkey center using customer and employee relations skills, business management techniques, and sound judgment.

Responsibilities Customer Relations
  • Welcome customers immediately in a professional manner and explain Grease Monkey services and pricing.
  • Present air filter, cabin air filter, breather, and radiator cap for customer inspection when applicable.
  • Maintain communication with waiting customers, keeping them informed of wait times and answering questions.
  • Review the Service Order Ticket at check‑out, including Warranty and Free Top‑Off Programs, and explain services performed.
  • Remind departing customers to provide feedback about their visit.
  • Thank departing customers and invite them to return.
  • Resolve customer complaints and damage claims.
Employee Supervision and Management
  • Hire new employees as needed.
  • Evaluate employee performance regularly and administer discipline when required.
  • Discharge employees as necessary.
  • Provide thorough training to new employees and conduct routine training sessions on new products, services, and procedures.
  • Schedule employees for effective center coverage and ensure accurate time‑clock use.
  • Ensure accurate employee timesheets each pay period.
  • Maintain complete employee files.
Center Operations
  • Ensure proper execution of all activities in the service bays.
  • Assist the team with oil changes, brake services, tire services, and small repairs.
  • Assist the team with diagnosing and recommending repairs to customers.
  • Assist the team with customer relations, including service reviews and repair presentations.
  • Print and monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales and inventory reports.
  • Monitor cash register functions and credit card handling.
  • Maintain POS computer software and hardware, including backups, upgrades, and routine maintenance.
  • Deposit cash daily.
  • Perform daily close‑out procedures.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly paperwork.
  • Monitor inventory, place orders, and perform accurate monthly inventory counts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and appeal of the entire site.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain physical plant, tools, equipment, inventory, supplies, and personal property.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform maintenance and vehicle repairs as required.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot basic automotive systems.
  • Perform oil changes, brake replacements, tire replacements, and light repair work.
  • Oversee the efficient operation of oil change and repair bays.
  • Participate in community activities.
  • Plan and execute local center marketing functions.
Qualifications
  • Skills in business management, employee relations, customer service, and intermediate computing.
  • Basic literacy, including reading, writing, and math skills; verbal communication skills.
  • Ability and license to operate motor vehicles; ability to properly use mechanical hand tools.
  • Previous experience managing a retail automotive center or an equivalent related business.
Working Conditions

Environment: Frequent exposure to outside weather elements, noise, and vehicle exhaust fumes throughout the shift.

Activities:

Requires good corrected vision and hearing; involves frequent standing, walking, climbing, stooping, crouching, handling, reaching, and lifting.

Compensation: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
