Full‑time faculty position in the Department of Specialty Dentistry responsible for development and implementation of the predoctoral curriculum in periodontics in the DDS program, including didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching. The position contributes to the teaching, research, and service missions of the department and the college. Faculty rank and determination of tenure/tenure‑track or non‑tenure track appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Extramural clinical practice time to be negotiated.
- Teaching: Responsible for development and delivery of the periodontics curriculum for dental students in the new DDS program, including development and implementation of courses and student assessments for classroom, preclinical simulation, and clinical instruction. Direct didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching.
- Research: Participate in scholarly activities and/or research as appropriate.
- Service: Active participation on college and university committees required and assigned; membership and participation in state and national professional dental organizations strongly encouraged.
- Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned.
- DDS/DMD or equivalent.
- Must be eligible for licensure in the state of Ohio for a Dentist License or a Limited Dental Teaching License.
- Qualified to be appointed as a faculty member in the College of Dentistry (rank commensurate with qualifications).
- Clinical proficiency in periodontics.
- Residency: Certificate of advanced education in periodontics from a CODA‑approved periodontics residency.
- Teaching Experience and Expertise: Experienced dental educator with experience in curriculum and course development and teaching at the predoctoral level. Interested in educational innovation and up to date on contemporary educational approaches. Openness to new educational approaches. Didactic, preclinical, and clinical teaching experience preferred.
- Accreditation Knowledge and
Experience:
Knowledge of, and experience with, accreditation of predoctoral dental education programs by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA). Able to collaborate with college administration to ensure ongoing compliance with CODA standards. - Research and Scholarship: Track record of research/scholarship and potential to contribute to the research program of the college and university.
- Contemporary Digital Technologies: Knowledge/experience with contemporary digital dentistry technologies.
- Board Certification: Board eligibility or certification by the American Board of Periodontology is preferred but not required.
- Collaborative: Can work collaboratively with administrators, faculty, staff, and students at the college and the university.
- Humanistic Environment: Committed to building a humanistic culture/climate within the college and to fostering student success.
