Teaching at Gilmour Academy is a unique call to help students grow cognitively, spiritually, and socially/emotionally. We are a Catholic school in the Holy Cross tradition. Our mission and identity, shaped by the charisms gifted to our Holy Cross community, inform all our work. Teaching at Gilmour is student-centered and outcome-based, but uniquely excellent when it is done as mindful and intentional members of the Holy Cross community.

Gilmour instills in every student a strong sense of self-worth through personal achievement and the discovery of his or her own voice. The world our students will soon lead will require them to be persons of great competence, courage, and moral stamina, with an enthusiastic, lifelong desire to learn.

Gilmour is seeking a collaborative and innovative Theology teacher for the upcoming school year. Respectful, inclusive faith development is integral to how Gilmour teaches the whole child . We seek an experienced educator, with Upper school classroom experience, who embodies Gilmour’s mission and vision. The successful candidate connects with students, families, and colleagues across disciplines and divisions. The candidate is also committed to implementing the diocesan curriculum as guided by our Holy Cross identity. Further, the candidate demonstrates the capacity to grow professionally and will be equipped to stretch all students on their individual faith journeys. Candidates should be eager to support co-curricular initiatives, facilitate learning beyond the classroom, and participate enthusiastically in the life of the school.

In addition to expressing aptitude and enthusiasm for classroom teaching, excellent candidates will:

possess current Ohio teaching licensure or a non-tax certificate

have a bachelor’s degree in theology, religious studies, or a closely related field

be certified by the Diocese of Cleveland or eligible for certification

be enthusiastic about educating young people in the Holy Cross tradition
