Limited-Term Lecturer in Jewish History

The Department of History and Department of Religion at the University of Georgia invites applications for a one-year limited-term lecturer in Jewish History, renewable for up to two additional years. Anticipated start date is August 1, 2026.

This position will be a joint appointment in the Departments of History and Religion, with an undergraduate teaching load of eight courses per academic year (four per semester). The lecturer will be expected to develop new course offerings aligned with the goal of expanding the Jewish Studies curriculum to appeal to a broad range of students.

• Ph.D. degree in Jewish Studies or related field.
• Documented record of teaching and ability to offer courses in American Jewish History, European Jewish History, Holocaust Studies, Jewish immigration, Modern Judaism, and Jewish-Christian Relations.
• Preferred:
  Advanced Ph.D. candidates approved for a terminal degree exception before hire.

• Teach eight undergraduate courses per academic year.
• Design and implement courses in diverse areas of Jewish history.
• Develop new course offerings to expand the Jewish Studies curriculum.
• Participate in departmental meetings and professional development activities.
