- Provides instruction in basic education needs (e.g., reading, writing, mathematics)
- Assesses educational needs of inmates
- Develops lesson plans to address needs, including individual assignments and training
- Provides instruction and individual assistance
- Administers, scores, and interprets examinations and proficiency indicators
- Maintains discipline and/or security
- Counsels students concerning performance, behavior, and personal problems
- Attends meetings as required

QualificationsCurrent Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level and area of specialization to be assigned; must also hold a baccalaureate degree or less.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing:
All final applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to test for illegal drug use prior to appointment. Testing will also include marijuana. A positive test shall not be offered employment unless the applicant submits medical documentation of legally prescribed medications or a medical marijuana recommendation.
Pre-Employment Background Investigation:
The final applicant selected will undergo a criminal background check. An individual assessment of prior convictions will be made before excluding an applicant from consideration.
