The Immanuel Church is a church in Northern Kentucky with several ministries. As a faculty member of the Immanuel School of Music, the responsibility of each instructor is to provide the highest quality of instruction in their discipline as well as providing a loving and caring environment for each student and their family. Immanuel is a place where music and fine arts are highly valued and appreciated.

The Immanuel Church believes that music is one of the greatest gifts to humanity.

We are currently looking for a Band Instructor.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach Band classes:
    • Sign-in at front office/ sign out when applicable.
    • Set room up for class/ Clean up after teaching.
    • Have a clear written teaching curriculum/method for each semester. Fall: 13 weeks and Spring: 15 weeks
    • Teach Essential Elements Curriculum/ Pick Concert music.
    • Teach all students proper set up, posture, and how to read music.
    • Supplement instruction with rhythm and note reading flash cards along with other technique building methods.
    • Encourage every student throughout their musical journey.
    • Walk all students as one group to the designated door for pick-up.
    • Stay onsite until all students have been picked up.
  • Communication:
    • Email parents a weekly assignment.
    • Maintain healthy parent communication within 24 hours.
    • Follow the school’s schedule for classes and cancellations.
    • Keep an accurate attendance for each class told in and communicate to the ISM Director when needed.
    • Maintain an accurate class roster and email list.
    • Dialog with ISM leadership team about any issues, concerns, or disruptive behavior within 24 hours.
    • Respond to ISM leadership team within 24 hours.
  • Performance Opportunities and Extra

    Activities:
    • Attend two or three (2-3) concerts per academic year.
    • Prepare students for a healthy and positive performance experience.
    • Participate in middle school recruitment.
    • Participate in school’s extra performances when invited.
  • Other Duties:
    • Participate in the Parent Meetings. (Last week of August)
    • Be on time with consistent attendance.
    • Give the front office your contact information and introduce yourself.
    • Make extra efforts to be friendly and kind to all school staff and teachers.
    • Help assist and promote proper equipment for the students. Communicate when a student’s instrument size is broken or need attention.
    • Keep adequate supplies on hand for each class.
    • Follow the school’s policies and procedures.
    • Represent the ISM and Immanuel Church to your highest standard.
  • SPIRITUAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Develop students/people with active and creative minds, a sense of understanding and compassion for others. We stress the total development of each person: spiritual, moral, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical.
  • By developing these qualities, the ISM students will become solid citizens for our future community and families at Immanuel.
  • COMPETENCIES AND TRAITS
  • Must be a team player and able to work positively and constructively with ISM staff, Elementary school staff, and volunteers.
  • Must possess, and continually develop, strong interpersonal skills including oral and written communications.
  • Must be a person who is a self-starter and strategic thinker, able to multi-task and work independently.
  • Must demonstrate emotional maturity, trustworthiness, and honesty.
  • Must interact with others with kindness, congeniality, integrity, and compassion.
  • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • College performance degree in primary instrument or college music education degree.
  • Five (5) years of performance in a professional organization.
  • Virtus trained and up to date with Virtus articles.
  • Child Protection Policy Trained (Darkness to Light).
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Stand or sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Walk, bend, twist, carry moderately heavy supplies.
  • Climb up and down stairs.
  • Finger and hand dexterity sufficient to operate instrument and equipment.
  • Specific vision ability required by this job includes close, distance, color and peripheral vision; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Transportation to & from work locations.
  • Consistent attendance required.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • All work is completed in-person generally at the on-site elementary schools/Central Campus/Boone Co. Campus.
  • Days of hours of work are generally morning/afternoon/evening hours Monday through Friday with occasional weekends for special activities and concerts.
