Richard Rose Central Academy

Richard Rose Central Academy is based in the heart of the beautiful border city of Carlisle on the edge of the Lake District. We provide high quality education to 11–18‑year‑olds from across the city. The high expectations we place on our students and staff, supported by one of the best learning environments in the county, have had a significant impact. As we continue our journey of school improvement, we will accept nothing but the very best from the Central Academy community and make no apologies for the demands we place on our students in terms of behaviour and commitment.

Our nurturing and supportive culture ensures the best possible outcomes for all students at all levels. At Central Academy we challenge everyone, every day, to be the best they can be in everything they do.

It is an exciting time to be a member of staff at Central Academy. If you would like to come and visit the school, please get in touch. Richard Rose Central is part of United Learning, a large, and growing, group of schools aiming to offer a life‑changing education to children and young people across England. United Learning is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

All positions are subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and shortlisted candidates will be subject to an online check.
We always appoint on merit, and we are open to discussing flexible working options.

Are you ambitious for all our young people and their life chances? Would you like to benefit from superb professional development opportunities and to work in one of the best equipped schools in the county? If so, then we would be very interested in hearing from you and supporting you in a relocation to the Lake District.

The Role

We are looking to appoint a new apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our inclusive and passionate SEND team at Richard Rose Central Academy. You will support, assist and supervise identified pupil/s with SEND under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo. As part of the role, you will work towards your Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification with United Learning. This will include remote CPD sessions (a minimum of 6.5 hours per week during normal working hours) and two in person days at either a central office location or hosting school within United Learning.

The role will be 37.5 hours per week, term time plus one week (39 working weeks).

This is an outstanding opportunity to join a successful, and rapidly developing academy. We are driven by a forward‑thinking philosophy and a vibrant, positive culture. In a friendly and welcoming school, with supportive colleagues, you'll be able to make a real impact on our academy, and on the lives of children across the country.

Over the past two years, the school has undergone a rapid transformation with excellent standards and outcomes becoming just part of who we are as a school. This makes it a very exciting time to join our school and be part of a great community.

We are an inclusive employer and are happy to consider flexible working practices, part time or a job share if they will benefit you and the students of the Academy.
