Position Details
Title: Coordinator for Instructional Development
Classification: Academic Professional AC
Contract Type: Fiscal (12 mo.)
Minimum Qualifications: A terminal degree or completion of a terminal degree within six months of start date.
Summary: The Coordinator will support instruction across all UGA schools and colleges by developing and executing instructional development services, collaborating with CTL colleagues, and providing training and consultations to faculty and graduate students.
- Contribute to educational development programs and services for faculty and graduate students (e.g., mid‑semester formative evaluations, Faculty Learning Community coordination, Grad Teach Certificate workshops).
- Leverage project management strategies to support the Senior Associate Director for Teaching and Learning in developing new and existing programs and events.
- Provide one‑on‑one and group support for instructors and TAs.
- Develop evidence‑based resources and support materials for instruction at UGA.
- Teach once per year within graduate‑level teaching development courses offered through the graduate school.
- Perform professional development and other duties as assigned.
- At least one year of teaching experience in higher education.
- A demonstrated commitment to improving teaching based on research on teaching and learning.
- A terminal degree in an academic field represented at the University of Georgia.
- Experience providing teaching‑related support and/or educational development services to faculty at a higher education institution.
- Practical knowledge of evidence‑based principles of effective teaching in higher education.
- Ability to provide timely support, assess needs, and identify ways to meet those needs.
- Ability to apply relevant research on teaching and learning to specific teaching situations in a higher education context.
- Excellent presentation, facilitation, and project management skills, with attention to detail and multi‑tasking.
- Excellence in teaching, instructional design, or educational development in higher education – preferably at a large public research university.
