Reports to:

Associate Vice President, Enrollment Management, Admissions.

Basic Function

Lead strategic recruitment initiatives focused primarily on students interested in the Honors experience at Kent State University. Promote the Honors experience to prospective students and aid in their admission and honors application submission and subsequent yield. Provide significant management and professional support to admitting units to ensure a transformative student experience in all recruitment efforts both on and off campus.

Responsibilities
  • Lead collaborative efforts with colleagues in the College of Honors and Global Education, admissions, and enrollment management to support the recruitment and yield of honors students.
  • Lead collaborative efforts with colleagues in enrollment management and university marketing and communications to create recruitment messaging via direct mail, email, and social media for honors students and their influencers.
  • Develop strategic plans including outreach, recruitment, yield, and assessment for specific populations; implement and oversee recruitment programs such as on‑campus visit events and off‑campus programs to attract applications and increase enrollment.
  • Serve as an influencer and collaborator in honors admission strategy and selection.
  • Serve as a territory manager for an assigned recruitment territory.
  • Assist associate vice president and directors in developing goals specific to areas of oversight with a detailed assessment plan.
  • Build and sustain partnerships with university and community partners focused on engagement with community-based organizations, secondary school teachers, and other external partners.
  • Travel on behalf of the University for recruitment activities and related events.
  • Speak publicly and present information to individuals and groups on and off campus.
  • Review applications and make admission decisions.
  • Manage and oversee programs and projects for enrollment activities on or off campus (honors recruitment plan, outreach and engagement strategic plan, recruitment plan, CRM operations).
  • Provide and analyze information for management by producing reports using student databases and query tools.
  • Assist with the development, maintenance, and execution of the department’s early outreach, access, and community engagement plans for all campus events.
  • Serve on university, division, and department committees as appropriate.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of progressively responsible admissions experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Experience working in an honors college and with honors students.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Knowledge of standard student recruitment practices.
  • Making an admission decision based on established criteria.
  • Planning large visit programs.
  • Interpreting admissions data and making recommendations.
  • Adhering to deadlines.
  • Detail orientation.
  • Verbal and written communication.
  • Utilizing Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software.
  • Delivering presentations.

  • Maintain competency and professional currency through self‑directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and training courses as required by the department.
  • Create recruiting strategies.

Additional Requirements

Must pass a security check.

Working Schedule

Monday
- Friday 8 AM - 5 PM or otherwise discussed with your supervisor.
