Job SummaryThe Department of Justice, Safety, & Military Science at Eastern Kentucky University invites applications for a part‑time faculty position to teach courses in Emergency Medical Care. Must be a state licensed or NREMT certified paramedic and must be endorsed by KBEMS as a paramedic able to teach all levels of EMS courses. To be considered for teaching undergraduate level courses, applicants should hold an earned doctoral/terminal degree (for EMC masters is terminal), a master’s in a teaching discipline or related field, or a master’s degree with a concentration in a teaching discipline (minimum of 18 graduate semester hours).
Part‑time faculty may teach up to nine credit hours, depending on departmental needs. Applicants will be screened and contacted as departmental needs for part‑time faculty arise. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable at the time of application; official transcripts are required at the time of the position offer and as a condition of employment.
- Hold a doctoral/terminal degree (for EMC masters is terminal).
- Hold a master’s in a teaching discipline or related field.
- Hold a master’s degree with a concentration in a teaching discipline (minimum 18 graduate semester hours).
- Paramedic with EMS educator experience, preferably KBEMS credentialed EMS Level 2 or 3 Educator.
- Plan and develop EMS licensure class lesson plans (Essential).
- Deliver all content based upon the National Education Standards for EMS (Essential).
- Evaluate the competency of students from an affective, cognitive and psychomotor perspective (Essential).
