- Hold a bachelor's degree and required Kentucky certification for the assigned position.
- Proven ability to work effectively with students.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
- Meet and instruct assigned classes in the designated locations and times.
- Plan a program of study that meets individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
- Prepare for classes assigned and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
- Guide the learning process through establishment of curriculum goals and clear objectives to meet those goals.
- Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media consistent with the physical limitations of the location and the needs and capabilities of student groups.
- Strive to implement the district's philosophy of education, instructional goals, and objectives.
- Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports, including reports to parents as required.
- Implement reading and math management systems, and/or individual education plans and course curriculum outlines when appropriate.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records and their confidentiality as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
- Assist administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student conduct in the classroom and school activities.
- Make provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and volunteers, and evaluate their job performance in cooperation with department heads or instructional and guidance facilitators.
- Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
- Assess learning needs of students regularly, seeking assistance from district specialists as required.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
- Maintain a professional awareness of current literature related to the assignment, including knowledge of state and federal law, Board policy, and administrative regulations.
- Perform related duties as assigned by administrator or superintendent.
- Help students learn subject matter and skills that contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible individuals.
Salary based on rank and experience.
Contract:
185 days.
