Assistant/Associate Prof
The Department of Environmental Health Science and Institute of Gerontology in the College of Public Health at the University of Georgia seek a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor with an emphasis on One Health and environmental risk factors for neurodegenerative disease. This is an academic year (9 month) appointment with an opportunity to supplement salary during the summer. The anticipated starting date for the position is August 1, 2026.
The successful candidate will hold a joint appointment between the Department of Environmental Health Science (51%), which will also serve as the tenure home, and the Institute of Gerontology (49%), with an opportunity to work in the Cognitive Aging Research and Education (CARE) Center. The candidate will be required to teach undergraduate and graduate courses and to establish and maintain an externally funded research program.
Depending on qualifications, candidates may be considered for the rank of Associate Professor.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses.
- Establish and maintain an externally funded research program.
- Collaborate across the Department of Environmental Health Science and the Institute of Gerontology, with potential to engage with the CARE Center.
- A doctoral degree in environmental health, gerontology, computational neuroscience, neurobiology, or a related discipline (e.g., biology, environmental science, public health, toxicology, etc.).
- Minimum two years of work experience after graduation with PhD (e.g., postdoctoral training or teaching) and relevant research publications.
- Strong evidence of teaching and ability to work with students; commitment to community engagement; potential for external funding (particularly for the Associate Professor track).
- Appointments to the Associate Professor position require strong evidence of acquiring and administering external funding; strong ability to communicate research; and excellence in teaching and service.
- Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.
- Integrated research bridging human-, animal-, and environmental systems via computational and/or integrative –omics technologies is encouraged.
