Instructional Services Specialist
Location:
Ohio
This two‑year term position reports to the Instructional Services Coordinator and is responsible for assisting with day‑to‑day logistical coordination of instructional services and outreach activities that draw upon Thompson Special Collections materials and resources, including those of the Herman J. Albrecht Library of Historical Architecture, Hilandar Research Library, Rare Books & Manuscripts Library, and Theatre Research Institute.
Responsibilities- Assist the Instructional Services Coordinator with day‑to‑day logistical coordination of instructional services and outreach activities drawing upon Thompson Special Collections materials and resources.
- Coordinate outreach activities across multiple collections, including libraries of historical architecture, research, rare books, manuscripts, and theatre research.
- Support faculty and staff in planning and delivering primary source‑based instruction.
- Assist with other duties as assigned within the Special Collections and Area Studies unit.
- Bachelor’s degree in arts, humanities, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in humanities or teaching/education.
- At least two years of experience in an academic library, special collections, or primary source‑based instructional/educational role.
- Familiarity with standard office tools and technology, such as MS Office.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple demands.
- 2–3 years of experience in a special collections environment with primary source instruction.
- Knowledge of current best practices in archival and special collections instruction.
- Understanding of architecture or architectural history collections.
- Familiarity with conservation, preservation, and digitization best practices.
- Interest and experience in book history, archives, or cultural heritage collections.
- Ability to work confidently with at least one foreign language or non‑English materials.
Posting range: $51,500–$60,000 annually.
