The role of Adult Programmer is part-time and non-exempt.
The LaGrange Adult Programmer will work a weekly combination of morning, afternoon and potential weekend shifts totaling a maximum of 20 hours per week.

What You'll Do:
- Provide weekly programming for adults at the LaGrange location, including but not limited to: book clubs, arts & crafts activities, contracting with speakers or outside community groups, and special events.
- Organize, maintain, prepare and order materials utilized for crafts and activities.
- Provide summer reading activities for the LaGrange branch, and possibly help at other locations when needed.
- Know and follow all policies and procedures.
- Present information about services and programs to individuals and groups in the library.
- Is sensitive to patron privacy and advocates for intellectual freedom and freedom of access.
- Meet regularly with the adult programmers at Crestwood and Goshen branches. Collaborate with LaGrange branch programmers, including the Workshop Coordinator, to plan programs and events, and communicate effectively with other staff.
- Fill in at the public service desk when needed.
Education, Training, and Experience
Required:
A Bachelor’s degree or combination of some post-secondary education and relevant work experience is required. Experience with programming is preferred. Basic computer experience with standard office software, including Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel & Canva is required as well as being familiar with Google including Google Documents & Google Calendar. A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving history required as well as personal transportation that can be used for business travel is required.
Scheduling:The Adult Programmer works an established schedule with weekend and evening hours, dependent on the library's schedule. Additional hours may be provided on a temporary basis for staff substitution, staff training, and/or special projects. Additional staff time may be offered at the discretion of the Supervisor.
