Special Education Teacher PASS

Your Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated times and locations.
• Plan study programs tailored to individual student needs, interests, and abilities.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
• Prepare for classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Establish curriculum goals and develop clear objectives to guide the learning process.
• Use varied instructional techniques and media suited to the physical setting and student capabilities.
• Implement the district's educational philosophy and instructional goals through teaching and actions.
• Regularly assess student accomplishments and provide progress reports, including to parents, and implement reading, math management systems, individual education plans, and course outlines as appropriate.
• Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as required by law and district policies.
• Assist administration in enforcing student conduct policies for classroom and school activities.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside instructional hours.
• Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers; evaluate their performance collaboratively.
• Maintain and improve professional competence.
• Assess student learning needs regularly and seek assistance from district specialists as needed.
• Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
• Stay professionally aware of current literature related to assignment, including knowledge of state and federal law, Board policy, and administrative regulations.
• Perform related duties as assigned by administrators or the Superintendent.

• Hold a bachelor's degree and required Kentucky certification for the assigned position.
• Demonstrate proven ability to work effectively with students.
• Demonstrate proven ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.

• Salary based on rank and experience.
• 185-day contract.
