Position SummaryThe C&I Estimator will develop detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects, including new construction, expansions, and facility upgrades. This role is crucial in the preconstruction process and requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across internal teams.
Key Responsibilities- Review drawings, technical specifications, and project documents to generate accurate electrical estimates.
- Perform detailed material, labor, and equipment take-offs using industry-standard estimating tools.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and field operations to confirm scope and pricing.
- Evaluate value engineering options and propose cost-effective solutions.
- Solicit and incorporate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
- Prepare bid proposals, estimate summaries, and supporting documentation.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site visits, and client discussions as needed.
- Analyze historical cost data and market conditions to refine estimate accuracy.
- Assist with project handoff to operations after award.
- 3–7+ years of electrical estimating experience (commercial and/or industrial).
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, NEC codes, and installation methods.
- Experience with medium-voltage, low-voltage, instrumentation, and control systems is preferred.
- Proficiency in estimating software (Accubid, Trimble, Con Est, etc.).
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, risers, and P&IDs.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Degree or technical training in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent field experience also valued.
