Position Overview

This is an internal position to provide technical expertise in the field of Chemical Engineering. The role applies past knowledge and experience using a wide range of engineering principles to recommend solutions for complex problems within the Resin processes. Responsibilities include senior technical advice on the development of new chemical processes, reviewing proposed processes and recipe additions, ensuring safety and environmental compliance, modelling relief systems, troubleshooting existing operations, commissioning new operations, and leading individual productivity projects to create capacity and efficiencies.

The position may collaborate closely with Innovation, Commercial, Operations, and Supply Chain teams.

Essential Functions
  • Provide expertise in Process Engineering for Resin Production and process capacity.
  • Consult and provide technical recommendations focused on safety and efficiency in chemical process design.
  • Offer practical technical solutions to issues at existing locations based on product and process capabilities.
  • Advise project teams on potential design or scope changes and their impact and benefits to the process.
  • Work with contracted engineering groups to ensure optimal design of new processes.
  • Check calculations to advise on adherence to codes, specifications, design criteria and RAGAGEP (Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices).
  • Develop business cases for new product or process development and present them to Leadership.
  • Create best practices and design standards to improve reliability and efficiency of existing chemical processes.
  • Collaborate in Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOPs, and other hazard review techniques to maintain design integrity.
  • Lead commissioning and startup of chemical processes.
  • Model relief systems at senior level expertise.
  • Provide written technical guidance on deviations from expected production.
  • Organize and lead commissioning efforts, including closing PSSR action items and following the MOC process.
  • Maintain effective communication with operations and provide education and training to upskill operators.
  • Represent the team to Leadership on difficult technical issues, delivering clear recommendations.
Job Qualifications & Experience
  • Network effectively within a matrix organization and work remotely.
  • 5+ years of relevant chemical process experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with process safety, environmental, and Industrial Hygiene regulations related to chemical production.
  • Experience working with third‑party engineering firms on Front‑End Engineering efforts.
  • Experience in a plant‑floor chemical operating company.
  • Analytical and critical thinking abilities.
  • Batch manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with solid material handling and equipment design.
  • Project management experience, particularly FEL efforts.
  • Ability to communicate across all organizational layers, from business leads to local site personnel.
  • Understanding of Fault Trees, FMEA, QRA, and LOPA techniques; experience in chemical reaction relief system modelling.
Education & Skills
  • BS in Chemical or Process Engineering.
  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint with advanced Excel skills.
  • Data collection and interpretation capabilities.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Familiarity with the Stage‑Gate Process for projects and front‑end development.
  • Understanding of Gantt Charts and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience with Mini‑Tab is a plus.
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems such as SAP.

Travel may be required depending on project location, with expected travel up to 50% and possibly more as needed.
