Pay Range

Pay ranges from approximately $67,000 to $102,000. Starting pay will be based on qualifications, education, experience, and location.

Responsibilities
  • Work under administrative direction and requires advanced level knowledge of state and federal guidelines regarding water and/or sewage treatment plant operations
  • Manage the operation and maintenance program for large water treatment and wastewater treatment plants for the institution, neighboring institutions, and surrounding community
  • Oversee operation of treatment plant laboratory and conduct chemical and bacteriological testing; supervise and train treatment plant staff
  • Inspect facilities to ensure all mechanical equipment is maintained and operated according to regulations
  • Make on‑site investigations of inoperable equipment
  • Inspect elevated tanks’ condition and cathodic protection system; assess installations of equipment and contractors’ work, steam and hot water boilers to determine results of chemical feed treatment
  • Evaluate conditions of plants and equipment and instruct resident personnel in corrective action
  • Evaluate preventive maintenance program and conduct safety and health inspections
  • Prepare safety programs
  • Meet with OEPA and Health Department concerning operation of plants
  • Consult with district treatment plant coordinators on troubleshooting problems
  • Review design drawings and specifications for water and sewage plant and mechanical equipment installations
  • Develop and write specifications for new equipment
  • Develop and write maintenance manuals
  • Research, gather and compile information for records and reports
  • Plan, develop and submit management plans for land application (for disposal of sludge generated at plant) for OEPA approval
  • Make necessary repairs or adjustments on equipment
  • Keep equipment in stock to make on‑spot repairs (e.g., electrical control parts, alternators, coils, printed circuit control cards)
  • Attend annual training, meetings and/or serve on committees

Qualifications

Certificate of class at least equal to that required by water system and/or wastewater works classification pursuant to Rule 3745‑7‑02, Environmental Protection Agency; 24 months experience as treatment plant operator in water and/or sewage treatment plant which included conducting routine laboratory tests on treatment plant flows; 12 months training or 12 months experience in supervisory principles/techniques; valid driver’s license.

Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
