Controls and Electrical Supervisor

Role Overview

Controls & Electrical Supervisor at Primient responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving plant power distribution and process control systems while leading a team of electricians and control technicians in a 24/7 food ingredients manufacturing environment.

• Lead and perform daily maintenance, field repairs, and preventive maintenance of electrical and control systems.
• Assign, organize, and supervise work for contracted and staffed electricians, developing and reviewing work plans for accuracy and timeliness.
• Specify, install, and maintain low voltage power systems (120V–480V) and, with training, medium voltage power distribution systems (4160V–12.5kV).
• Serve as plant electrical safety advisor, ensuring compliance with NFPA and NEC regulations and coordinating reviews with electrical engineering firms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues in process control systems, including PLCs (Allen Bradley), VFDs, motor controllers, pneumatics, and instrumentation.
• Develop and maintain plant electrical documentation; use CMMS for maintenance records and spare parts management.
• Support capital and sustaining projects to improve safety, quality, cost, and capacity.
• Conduct equipment failure analysis, develop findings, and prepare reports with corrective action recommendations.
• Coordinate activities with plant maintenance, engineering, operations, and external utility providers.
• Provide emergency support for plant operations and direct planned electrical outages for major upgrades.
• Mentor and develop technical skills of team members; participate in structured development programs.
• Communicate effectively across all organizational levels and foster a collaborative, safety‑focused culture.

• Journeyman Electrician with 7+ years in a process industry or equivalent education and experience.
• Strong electrical aptitude with problem‑solving ability.
• Ability to learn and implement medium voltage (4160V–12.5kV) power distribution design, installation, and maintenance.
• Proficiency in PLC logic, electrical schematics, and process instrumentation; ability to configure and calibrate control system instruments.
• Familiarity with regulatory standards (NFPA, NEC) and safety best practices.
• Knowledge of reliability and predictive maintenance practices (transformer oil, infrared, ultrasound).
• Ability to read and understand plant drawings, P&, and schematics.
• Effective communication, teamwork, and supervisory skills.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders/stairs, work at heights, and wear required PPE.

Monday–through‑Friday dayshift position reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager. Additional hours may be required due to plant and project needs.

Annual pay range: $75,643.20 – $, with bonus eligibility. Compensation is based on experience, skills, and alignment with responsibilities.
