Position OverviewThe Connection Systems North America (CSNA) team has an exciting opportunity for a Controls Engineer (Electrical preferred). Under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering General Supervisor, the successful candidate will provide on‑site engineering support within the high‑speed metal stamping operation, primarily for machine vision.
Key Responsibilities- Provide on‑site support to manufacturing operations to maintain production processes.
- Troubleshoot process issues with skilled tradesmen.
- Improve processes by identifying daily manufacturing problems (e.g., error proofing quality, improving up‑time, cycle speed, and waste reduction).
- Develop expertise in metal stamping operations control systems, particularly vision system programming, terminal presses, winding equipment, and all other subprocesses.
- Obtain quotes, write purchase requisitions, and maintain control of spending on projects for new equipment and existing equipment revisions.
- Communicate project or assignment status through verbal and written communication.
- Develop planned maintenance procedures and support plant maintenance activities.
- Keep current on new technology within the stamping industry for new manufacturing systems.
- Follow all Aptiv Corporate and local procedures.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology (Electrical preferred).
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
- Strong results‑orientation and execution characteristics.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
- Experience developing/programming machine vision systems (Cognex software a plus).
- Machine controls aptitude, machinery and equipment electrical support, and machine control programming (Rockwell software a plus).
- Experience in equipment communication, networking, integration, etc.
- Prior plant process support, experience in electrical support of stamping presses, servo feeds, machine vision, robotics (Fanuc a plus), IT communications, etc.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks; make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently.
- Resourcefully innovate and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work in a unionized environment.
