Job Summary
The duties of the Engineering Co‑Op will be focused on supporting the execution of projects in our facilities located in Logan, UT. Relocation assistance is provided if relocating 50 miles or more for this internship. This is a paid co‑op ($24 an hour) that lasts 6 months. The role requires working closely with plant operations and maintenance teams. We are looking for candidates for the periods May–December
2026 or January–August
2027.
- Establish design criteria for new equipment
- Create layouts
- Evaluate alternatives to choose the best solution
- Assist with overall programming on the operations plant floor systems
- Contact OEMs to obtain equipment specifications, layouts and quotations
- Collaborate with the Finance Team to analyze cost‑benefit
- Manage vendors and contractors
- Conduct or assist with factory acceptance tests
- Oversee or assist with equipment installation and start‑ups
- Create electrical drawings
- Manage small capital projects
- Develop and troubleshoot programming with Rockwell Automation PLCs
- Develop and troubleshoot HMI Touchscreen and data historian applications (Rockwell Panelview and GE iFIX)
- Completed sophomore‑level status or higher toward a BS degree in an engineering program (Electrical, Automation, Mechanical, Chemical, Biological, Food Engineering or Manufacturing preferred)
- Ability to work 40 hours/week during the internship period
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work well with plant partners, engineering partners and other departments
- Take ownership of assignments and complete them on time and accurately
- Desire to grow and take on new challenges/opportunities
- Drafting using AutoCAD, PLC programming, operator interface programming, technical writing/research skills (desired; training available)
