Position: Engineer- Controls II USA

Job Description

Mid‑level corporate controls. The role requires taking a lead role in the global implementation and development of electrical controls systems/designs, PLC/HMI programming, vendor equipment check‑out, equipment/system start‑ups, data collection and optimization of control systems.

Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field; or equivalent years of work experience.
  • Minimum 6 years of manufacturing equipment controls engineering experience.
Required Skills/Competencies
  • Proven understanding of controls engineering techniques and practices for global facilities.
  • Proven experience trouble‑shooting electrical/electronic control systems.
  • Knowledge of global manufacturing processes and safety requirements.
  • Experience with Auto Desk Auto Cad drafting software to create electrical schematic and panel layouts.
  • Programming of Rockwell Automation Logix PLC platform (ladder and function block diagrams).
  • Programming of Rockwell Automation HMI devices (Panel View Plus, Panel View Plus CE, RSView SE).
  • Designing, programming, and commissioning at least two control networks (Control Net, Device Net, Profibus, and/or Ethernet).
  • Understanding of robotic systems, including programming, safety requirements, and design/implementation practices.
  • Knowledge of motion controls (stepper motors, servo motors, AC/DC drives).
  • Experience configuring Cognex vision camera systems.
  • Computer hardware/applications knowledge and proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience in a server environment.
  • SQL Server database configuration experience.
  • Experience with multi‑tiered architectures using C#, , HTML, XML, and SQL.
  • Knowledge of Corporate Ethernet architectures and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Global support of manufacturing facilities.
  • Assist with global coordination of new equipment installation and implementation.
  • Assist with global communication between manufacturing process equipment and SQL database.
  • Maintain and update manufacturing process tool electrical drawings globally; ensure equipment changes are documented and drawings are current.
  • Design and theorize majority of manufacturing control systems, ensuring new process tools adhere to corporate controls standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and solve equipment controls issues globally; recommend controls policy/standard changes when possible.
  • Interface with multiple departments and external suppliers to ensure adherence to corporate controls policies and standards.
  • Evaluate new proposed equipment controls systems against MES requirements and provide recommendations to vendors and/or internally.
  • Maintain effective global communication and foster team building.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and good housekeeping standards.
  • Design, program, and coordinate small, mid‑size, and some large‑scale control systems and projects.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, evaluate, and recommend options, implementing as required.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical specialisms and provide detailed advice on their application.
  • Generate original ideas in specialized IT fields and test them through practical demonstration.
  • Monitor new IT methods and trends; report benefits to organization.
  • Recommend/design structures and tools for systems meeting business needs.
  • Translate logical designs into physical designs and produce detailed design documentation.
  • Design, code, test, correct, and document moderately complex programs and program modifications.
  • Contribute to safety analysis, hazard identification, and safety verification.
  • Design systems and services for sustainability and material consumption profiles.
  • Create test cases and maintain traceability and defect records.
  • Plan and perform all types of evaluation, interpreting and presenting results.
  • Set integration builds and produce software builds for target environments.
  • Configure software and equipment, test platform‑specific versions, and report findings.
  • Install or remove hardware/software, conduct tests, and document results.
