Our fabrication shop in Maysville, KY is expanding rapidly, and we are seeking skilled professionals who can grow with us. The Fabrication Shop Detailer will play a critical role in supporting Ranger Steel's expanding fabrication capabilities. This full-time, hybrid role is ideal for an experienced steel detailer who thrives in a technology-forward environment. The position requires weekly on-site presence at our Maysville, KY fabrication facility, with the remainder of work performed remotely or from our shared office space in Covington, KY.

A central focus of this role will be supporting our recently acquired HGG APC (Automated Profile Cutter) system, which operates using Pro Cam software. The ideal candidate will bring demonstrated experience in structural steel detailing, 3D modeling, and the full suite of file formats used in modern fabrication workflows.

• Produce accurate shop drawings and fabrication details for structural and miscellaneous steel components
• Develop and manage 3D structural steel models using Tekla Structures
• Prepare and process NC1 (CNC/machine-ready) files and DXF files for fabrication equipment, including the HGG APC with Pro Cam software
• Import, export, and coordinate BIM/CAD files (DWG, DXF, IFC) across design and fabrication platforms
• Interpret architectural and structural engineering drawings to translate design intent into shop-ready details
• Coordinate with the fabrication shop floor on a weekly basis (Maysville, KY) to ensure detailing accuracy aligns with production requirements
• Review and verify material lists, connection details, and erection marks for accuracy
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and shop foremen to resolve detailing issues and RFIs
• Maintain organized file management and version control for all project deliverables
• Support ongoing technology integration as Ranger Steel continues to invest in automated fabrication systems

• Minimum 3 years of experience in structural steel detailing or a closely related discipline
• Proficiency in Tekla Structures for 3D modeling and shop drawing production
• Hands‑on experience working with NC1 files and understanding of CNC fabrication workflows
• Strong working knowledge of DXF and CAD file formats and their application in fabrication
• Familiarity with BIM coordination and IFC/model exchange standards
• Ability to read and interpret structural engineering and architectural drawings with a high degree of accuracy
• Solid understanding of structural steel shapes, connections, and AISC standards
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Reliable transportation for weekly travel to the Maysville, KY fabrication facility

• Experience with HGG profiling equipment and/or Pro Cam software
• Prior work experience in a structural steel fabrication shop environment
• Familiarity with Tekla Power Fab or similar fabrication management software
• Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 welding standards and common connection types
• Experience with erection drawing preparation and anchor bolt plans
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Architecture, or a related field (equivalent experience accepted)

This is a full-time, hybrid position structured to provide flexibility while maintaining strong on-site collaboration with our shop team.

One required on-site day per week at the Ranger Steel Fabrication Shop in Maysville, KY (approximately 1 hour from Covington).

Remaining hours may be worked remotely or from Ranger Steel's shared office space in Covington, KY.
