Bearing Product Engineer
Location: Toledo, OH (Hybrid 4 Days Remote, 1 Day Onsite)
Employment Type: Direct Hire
We are seeking a Bearing Product Engineer to provide technical expertise and engineering support for bearing products and applications. This role will serve as the primary technical resource for customers, sales teams, and internal departments while supporting product development, quality improvements, and project management activities. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of experience working with bearings in the automotive, industrial, aftermarket, or bearing manufacturing industry.
Key Responsibilities- Provide engineering and technical support related to bearing selection, application, performance, and troubleshooting.
- Prepare product drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical reports.
- Support customer projects from concept through production launch.
- Coordinate PPAP submissions, sample activities, drawing reviews, and inspections.
- Conduct bearing failure analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Perform bearing measurements, inspections, and engineering evaluations.
- Develop Design Validation Plans (DVPs) and review test results.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for assigned customer accounts.
- Work closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Purchasing, and Product Engineering teams.
- Support quality investigations and customer concerns using 8D, 5 Why, and root-cause analysis methodologies.
- Review customer requirements and drawings to determine bearing specifications.
- Provide technical training and support to customers and internal teams.
- Participate in customer audits and manufacturing quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain engineering documentation, drawings, approvals, and project records.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related Engineering discipline required.
- 1-3 years of experience in the bearing industry or working with bearing applications.
- Experience in automotive, industrial, aftermarket, or manufacturing environments preferred.
- Knowledge of bearing design, fit, clearance, life calculations, and failure modes is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and interact directly with customers.
- Experience with PPAP processes and quality systems.
- Understanding of bearing testing, validation, and failure analysis.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience preparing technical reports and customer documentation.
