The Director Real Estate Finance will be responsible for leading the organization’s Real Estate Development, Construction and Property Management Finance Accounting teams, exhibiting a strong technical real estate, construction, property management and corporate accounting/finance background, and being a subject matter expert managing complex accounting matters, being attentive to details and deadlines, have outstanding internal and external communication skills, and being able to manage varied tasks within a team environment.
Scopeof Responsibility
- Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting for partnerships, LLCs, and corporate entities.
- Monitor project financial performance, including cost-to-complete, variance analysis, and corrective strategies.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior leadership and board committees.
- Ensure accurate financial records, reconciliations, and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Manage cash flow projections and ensure adequate liquidity across all projects and operations.
- Oversee funding draw processes from lenders, investors, and public sources.
- Monitor loan agreements and ensure compliance with debt covenants.
- Lead treasury functions, including banking relationships, cash management, and electronic transactions.
- Partner with Development, Construction, & Property Management teams to develop & manage project budgets.
- Review contracts, agreements, and approve project-related invoices.
- Support capital planning and financial strategy for real estate initiatives.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to mitigate risk and ensure accurate reporting.
- Oversee audits, tax filings, cost certifications, and compliance reporting (e.g., LIHTC requirements).
- Review legal and financial documents to ensure proper accounting treatment.
- Serve as primary financial contact for lenders, investors, and funding partners.
- Provide required financial, investor, and compliance reporting.
- Manage communications related to loan terms, funding requests, and amendments.
- Lead, develop, & manage the Real Estate Finance team, including hiring, training, & performance management.
- Establish departmental processes, systems, and controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Develop and manage the department budget and staffing plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in accounting or finance within the real estate industry.
- Knowledge of Real Estate accounting practices pertaining to construction, real estate development and property management.
- Understanding of audit & tax reporting and compliance for real estate partnerships, limited liability companies & C corps.
