Job Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a VP/Director of Finance based in the Akron area. The chosen candidate will assume a pivotal role in our financial operations, with a focus on supervising payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. This role primarily entails financial planning, maintaining fiscal records, and preparing financial reports.

Responsibilities
  • Direct supervision of payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to ensure smooth financial operations.
  • Preparation and monitoring of the annual budget and future financial projections to guide strategic planning.
  • Maintenance of fiscal records to ensure accurate financial information.
  • Facilitation of the annual financial audit and assistance with the compilation of financial data for GAAP reporting.
  • Preparation of monthly financial reports for internal stakeholders.
  • Reconciliation of cash and investment accounts to the fund balance each month, overseeing investments and managing cash flow for the organization's bank accounts.
  • Maintenance of the organization's Chart of Accounts to ensure accurate tracking and reporting of financial transactions.
  • Preparation of necessary appropriation resolutions.
  • Collaboration with legal advisers on the preparation of resolutions related to contracts, salaries, and other financial matters.
  • Attendance at Finance-related meetings and events to stay abreast of industry developments and represent the organization.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a similar role, such as VP or Director of Finance, within a municipality or county government setting.
  • Proficiency in managing accounts payable (AP) processes.
  • Demonstrated expertise in budget processes.
  • Familiarity with month-end close activities.
  • Experience in Human Resources (HR) administration.
  • Ability to implement and maintain financial policies and procedures.
  • Strong leadership skills to guide and manage the finance team.
  • Excellent communication skills to liaise with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and creating financial reports.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certification, such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), is desirable.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
