Employment Type:

Temporary, Hourly, FLSA Non-Exempt. Pay: $50 per hour.

Job Summary:

The Relief Pharmacist will provide coverage in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital Pharmacy by filling and approving prescriptions and providing guidance to clinical and technical staff regarding medication effects.

Responsibilities
  • Compounding/filling prescriptions for patients when needed (80% of time)
  • Sign off on prescription formulations
  • Oversight of pharmacy when managers are unavailable
  • Counsel clinicians, clients, and technical staff on prescribed medications
  • Manage refills medication dispensing system (CUBEX) (20% of time)
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or PharmD in Pharmacy
  • Current state of GA license to practice as a Pharmacist
  • Experience with veterinary prescriptions for large and small animals preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
  • Ability to work flexible hours weekly, may include weekends and holidays
  • Competent in providing quality control in a fast-paced compounding pharmacy environment
  • Knowledge of pharmacy law and compliance guidelines
Physical Demands
  • Lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Sit, stand, stoop, bend, walk intermittently on hard floor surfaces
  • Manual dexterity to work with small, delicate equipment or large heavy objects/containers
  • Wear protective gear including mask, gloves, gown, hairnet, safety goggles, etc.
  • Work for long periods with arms extended
