Occupational Therapist

Overview

The Occupational Therapist is accountable for the developing, implementing, and maintaining a program to facilitate rehabilitation of mentally, physically, or emotionally handicapped individuals.

• Plans rehabilitation programs which involved manual arts, practice in pr evocation, vocation, homemaking skills, daily living, sensorimotor, educational and recreational activities to assist patients in functioning or adjusting to handicaps.
• Selects activity program consistent with needs and capabilities of each patient and coordinates program with other therapeutic activities.
• Selects constructive activities for patients to upgrade patient to maximum independence, prepare patient for return to work, to assist in restoration of functions and aid in adjustment to disability.
• Teaches patients skills and techniques required for participation in activities and evaluates patient"s progress.
• Suggests special equipment for patient to use in adaption to work-living environment.
• Lays out materials for patients use and cleans and repairs tools at end of session.
• Conducts and participates in training programs.
• May make and fit adoptive devices such as splints, braces, etc.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Graduate of an accredited college and licensed as an Occupational Therapist.
• OR
• Certified as Occupational Therapist as state required.
