Job DescriptionJob Summary
Responsible for supervising frontline authorization staff to ensure accurate and timely completion of insurance authorization, and communication or authorization status for deferral activities. Provides day-to-day oversight of workflows and staff performance to support compliance, reduce delays, and enhance patient access. Ensures adherence to payer requirements, organizational policies, and regulatory standards. Resolves escalated issues, coordinates with clinical and revenue cycle teams, and promotes patient-centered service.
EssentialFunctions
- Supervises daily workflow of financial clearance staff to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Assigns tasks, monitors queues, and adjusts workloads to meet operational demands.
- Trains and mentors staff on financial clearance policies, payer guidelines, and system workflows.
- Monitors quality of benefit verifications, authorizations, and patient estimates, and provides feedback.
- Resolves escalated patient, provider, or payer issues related to clearance activities.
- Ensures compliance with HIPAA, payer pre-authorization requirements, and organizational standards.
- Tracks and reports team productivity, accuracy, and quality metrics.
- Collaborates with clinical, scheduling, and billing teams to prevent unauthorized or delayed procedures.
- Supports implementation of process improvements and ensures adoption by frontline staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience Requirement0-4 years of related/progressive experience
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
All experience must be paid and in the same related field.
Part-time and PRN experience will be prorated based on hours worked per week.
Volunteer work and internships for academic credit are not counted.
