Role OverviewThe Director of Platform Engineering will lead the technical foundation of our product and internal operations. This role is responsible for architecture, Dev Ops/Cloud Infrastructure, database engineering, and IT support
, while also driving security and reliability practices aligned with SOC 2 compliance

You will manage and grow a cross‑functional platform team, partner with product and engineering leadership, and establish the scalable systems required to support our next phase of growth. This is a hands‑on leadership role ideal for someone who enjoys both technical depth and organizational influence.
Key Responsibilities- Own the end‑to‑end technical architecture of the platform, including API design, service boundaries, system performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Establish architectural standards, documentation, and design review processes.
- Drive modernization initiatives, refactoring strategies, and long‑term technical roadmap planning.
- Lead the design and operation of cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
- Oversee CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure‑as‑code, observability, alerting, and reliability engineering.
- Implement best practices for cost optimization, fault tolerance, and environment consistency.
- Ensure uptime, performance, and disaster recovery standards appropriate for healthcare workloads.
- Own database strategy, administration, performance tuning, backup/restore workflows, and data security.
- Guide decisions around schema evolution, data modeling, and long‑term storage strategies.
- Support analytics, reporting, and data pipeline needs across the organization.
- Build and manage lightweight internal IT processes to support a modern, cloud‑first SaaS workforce.
- Oversee identity management, endpoint security, hardware/software provisioning, and IT vendor relationships.
- Implement scalable internal tooling and policies to support company growth.
- Partner with compliance and security stakeholders to maintain SOC 2 Type I & Type II readiness.
- Implement and enforce secure SDLC practices, access controls, logging, and audit processes.
- Lead the remediation and verification of SOC 2 controls across engineering and IT systems.
- Champion security culture and ensure platform decisions align with healthcare data protection expectations.
- Manage and mentor a cross‑functional team including Dev Ops engineers, DBAs, platform engineers, and IT support roles.
- Collaborate closely with product engineering leaders to align platform investments with product goals.
- Recruit, coach, and develop a high‑performing technical team.
- Communicate effectively with executive leadership, providing clarity into platform reliability, capacity, risks, and opportunities.
- 8+ years of engineering experience with at least 3+ years in a leadership/management role.
- Strong background across cloud architecture, Dev Ops/SRE, and database administration
. - Experience owning the architecture of a SaaS product at meaningful scale.
- Hands‑on experience with modern cloud stacks (AWS/Azure/GCP) and IaC (Terraform, Cloud Formation, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience implementing or operating under SOC 2 practices (logging, IAM, change management, incident response, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of relational databases (Postgre
SQL, MySQL, SQL Server) and performance tuning. - Knowledge of monitoring, observability, and operational excellence practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross‑team collaboration skills.
- Experience working in healthcare technology or any regulated environment.
- Exposure to workforce management, staffing systems, or labor optimization software.
- Familiarity with HIPAA considerations and healthcare integration standards (FHIR, HL7).
- Experience scaling engineering functions in a high‑growth startup.
- Background running both engineering platform teams and IT operations.
