Data Governance Manager

Seeking an experienced Enterprise Data Governance Lead to lead and scale enterprise data governance and stewardship capabilities within a federated governance model. This role will operationalize governance strategies, drive data stewardship adoption across business domains, and oversee key initiatives related to data classification, metadata management, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure trusted, compliant, and well-governed data assets that support analytics, AI readiness, and enterprise objectives.

• Serve as a subject matter expert in enterprise data governance and stewardship, contributing to governance frameworks, policies, standards, and best practices.
• Lead onboarding of business and data domains into the federated governance model, including training, role enablement, and process adoption.
• Manage enterprise data governance initiatives, including data classification and tagging aligned with DOJ Data Security Regulations.
• Implement and optimize enterprise data catalog and marketplace capabilities to improve data discovery and accessibility.
• Design and manage workflows for metadata enrichment, glossary curation, and stewardship processes.
• Drive adoption of governance tools and processes through collaboration and stakeholder engagement across business, IT, Security, Legal, Privacy, and Compliance teams.
• Establish and report on governance KPIs, stewardship progress, risks, and operational performance.
• Partner with platform owners and architects to support governance workflows, metadata management, and compliance requirements.
• Conduct governance training sessions and workshops for data stewards and data owners.
• Mentor junior governance team members and oversee managed service provider delivery activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve governance operations through automation and emerging AI technologies.

• Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, or enterprise data management.
• Strong experience operating within federated or enterprise-scale governance models.
• Proven ability to influence and drive governance adoption without direct authority.
• Hands‑on experience with enterprise governance platforms such as Informatica (IDMC, CDGC, CDQ, CDMP, Axon), Atlan, Alation, or similar tools.
• Experience with metadata management, data classification, and regulatory-aligned governance practices.
• Experience managing governance initiatives across technical and business teams.
• Ability to translate governance strategies into practical operational processes.
• Preferred experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or regulated environments.
• Relevant certifications such as CDMP, DCAM, DGSP, or DAMA certifications are a plus.
