Systems Administrator I
Reports to the IT Director and collaborates with technicians and student workers to provide, maintain and support instructional and research services for faculty, staff and students within the School of Forestry.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
- Management and supervisory skills
- Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills in hardware, OS, networking, and applications
- Experience with enterprise clustered and virtual hosting environments
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools
- Data center experience, including installation, management and support of storage devices and physical servers
- Knowledge of security standards and best practices
- Experience with automated configuration management (Power Shell)
- Knowledge of database development and management concepts
- Experience with L2/L3 networking (routing, VLAN management, load balancing, firewalls)
- Familiarity with scripting and tools (Perl, Bash, Python)
- Experience with software package management and versioning tools (YUM/RPM, Aptitude, Git)
- Experience with 3rd‑party cloud hosting and services (AWS, GCS, Azure)
- Lead and manage projects and follow through to completion
- Experience with Team Dynamix
- Meet agreed‑upon objectives of projects and tasks in a timely manner
- Complete routine requests in a timely manner
- Create a seamless experience for clients and colleagues

- Write scripts using Windows Power Shell and shell to install software and automate processes for the School of Forestry’s computers
- Write and configure GPOs/CSPs to ensure endpoints are adhering to security standards
- Automate endpoint OS updates, software updates, and system updates
- Set up and maintain new computers using Microsoft Intune and other Windows tools
- Fulfill purchasing requests by answering questions and providing suggestions
- Maintain relations with vendors and keep technology up‑to‑date
- Troubleshoot advanced AV issues escalated by Tier 1 technicians
