Professor of System Dynamics
Join K ’s National Security Solutions team to impact national security through advanced engineering and technology solutions. This role supports the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) graduate education program in Beavercreek, OH.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, upgrade, and refresh graduate course materials for System Dynamics.
- Create assignments and testing instruments to teach and assess student knowledge.
- Provide feedback to students on learning and assessments.
- Guide research in System Dynamics domains.
- Assist the government in acquiring new solutions by writing technical requirements, user stories, interoperability exchanges, acquisition plans, schedules, test plans, and test data.
- Guide students and perform analysis and experimental work through STELLA modeling to understand and analyze complex, dynamic systems.
- Define architecture, workflow, feedback loops, and causal relationships within systems to understand behaviors over time.
- Investigate existing deployed systems for potential upgrades or intensified system dynamics review.
- Conduct mission, task, and function analyses of military systems at a level suitable for alternative design decisions.
- Provide user engagement strategies and derive requirements from user experiences.
- Conduct system analysis using system dynamics models, fault trees, event trees, root‑cause analyses, and other appropriate tools.
- Earned doctoral degree in Systems Dynamics, Systems Engineering, or related field.
- At least ten (10) years of related work experience.
- Experience developing curriculum, course management, and using the Canvas learning management system.
- Experience teaching Systems Dynamics and guiding research in a military graduate education environment.
- Detail‑oriented with excellent technical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Location:
On‑Site. The position may be performed in various locations including commercial or government offices, test and integration labs, government facilities and depots, test & evaluation facilities, and remotely when mission allows.
Minimal 0‑30% travel expected, including domestic and occasional international travel.
Working HoursPart‑time on‑call (PTOC). Normal days and hours are Monday‑Friday 08:00‑17:00, with additional times as required. Course schedules may be in evenings based on availability.
CompensationBasic compensation: $65‑80 per hour, based on knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience.
Additional compensation may include bonuses, commissions, sign‑on bonuses, relocation benefits, short‑term and long‑term incentives, and discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
