Overview

The Senior Manager, Vendor Management, is responsible for assessing, onboarding, and overseeing the health and performance of vendors involved in clinical trial execution. This role ensures vendors meet necessary qualifications and compliance standards, manages relationships, and oversees delivery to time, cost, and quality. The Senior Manager also leads vendor segments and oversees technical aspects such as quality, compliance, business continuity, inspection readiness, and the advancement of digital transformation and AI adoption within the vendor ecosystem.

Responsibilities
  • Relationship Management:
    Oversee the performance and health of vendors, develop and enhance vendor performance scorecards, build and maintain strong relationships, act as primary point of contact for vendor-related issues and escalations, assess portfolio resource demand, and lead the integration of new vendors into the strategy and operating models.
  • Leadership and Mentoring:
    Mentor team members, foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaborate with cross‑functional teams, engage with change management functions, and may supervise support staff.
  • Quality and Compliance Oversight:
    Ensure vendors comply with regulatory requirements and organizational standards, conduct regular assessments, develop corrective action plans, and lead governance meetings.
  • Vendor Qualification and Business Continuity:
    Develop and manage business continuity plans, conduct reviews, and ensure minimal disruption to clinical trial operations.
  • Inspection Readiness and Support:
    Prepare vendors for regulatory inspections and audits, coordinate inspection activities, and maintain readiness documentation.
  • Vendor Management Operations & Digital Integration:
    Lead internal governance related to sourcing strategy, continuously assess capacity management, integrate new processes across vendors, champion AI and digital transformation initiatives, and drive technology and systems integration.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required and 8+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in operations and/or vendor management.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience and success in a clinical project/trial management role within biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of GCP, FDA, EMA, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Highly collaborative with strong written and verbal communication skills, effective customer focus, and ability to interact with all levels of employees while maintaining confidentiality.
  • High aptitude with Microsoft Office and clinical technology platforms (eTMF, CTMS, EDC); excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, self‑starter who takes initiative and can handle risk and uncertainty.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities; exercise sound judgment and decision making.
  • May require up to 25% travel.
