Gateway Online Academy of Ohio is a full‑time, online option for students needing to catch up and finish high school graduation. A member of the Accel Schools network, Gateway serves students virtually across the United States and combines a 21st‑century curriculum with traditional methods. While instruction is virtual, travel and in‑person attendance are required several times a year for state testing and student events.
Aboutthe Opportunity
The Operations Program Specialist works with the Operations Manager to create, implement, and audit processes that support compliance with school board, state, and federal guidelines. The role ensures Gateway schools have the tools and procedures to support teachers, students, and parents in delivering effective online education.
Responsibilities- Track and report data as directed by the supervisor.
- Support administration in all internal operational needs.
- Manage contact changes in the student information system.
- Understand and apply compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain operational processes for Gateway.
- Maintain school‑wide data for reporting.
- Complete paperwork for families and store grades.
- Assist with school and state audits.
- Act as a resource for internal staff and external stakeholders, resolving escalated needs related to procedures, technology, materials, courses, and teacher assignments.
- Answer phone calls and assist with testing coordination.
- Report to the Operations Manager and Head of School.
- Substitute for or cover the duties of the Operations Manager when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ohio residency required.
- Bachelor's degree in education or business‑related experience considered.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Above‑average spreadsheet skills, including basic and intermediate formulas.
- Ability to handle confidential information responsibly.
- Reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethic.
- Experience managing difficult or emotional client situations.
- Strong judgment and decision‑making after gathering all available information.
- Professional attitude with insight into department and company welfare.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- Customer‑service orientation.
- Willingness to learn new technologies through independent study and training.
- Prior administrative assistance experience preferred.
- Prior experience in a school setting preferred.
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a team.
- Physical ability to lift 25 lbs.
- Pass federal and state criminal background checks.
