Operations Supervisor – Manufacturing Leadership Development Track
Employment Type:
Full-Time | Exempt
We are partnering with a leading North American steel processing and manufacturing organization to hire three Operations Supervisors at a major Midwest facility in Ottawa, Ohio.
This is not a traditional “working lead” role. This position is part of a structured leadership development program designed to build future plant managers and senior operations leaders.
If you are a performance-driven leader who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and wants a clear path toward plant leadership, this is a rare opportunity to step into a high-impact role.
The RoleThe Operations Supervisor is responsible for driving performance on the plant floor. This is a highly visible leadership position with ownership over safety, quality, productivity, and team engagement.
You will not be expected to operate machinery or perform maintenance. Instead, your focus will be:
- Driving throughput and operational performance
- Managing KPIs such as OEE, output per labor hour, and productivity metrics
- Holding teams accountable to daily targets
- Identifying performance gaps and implementing corrective actions
- Leading from the floor (majority of time spent in production environment)
- Developing and coaching frontline teammates
- Creating a culture of ownership and accountability
This role is central to the organization’s succession planning and long-term leadership strategy.
What We’re Looking ForWe are seeking leaders — not just supervisors.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Operations leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Exposure to performance metrics (OEE, throughput, output per labor hour, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to drive results through others
- Strong floor presence and accountability mindset
- High ambition and long-term leadership potential
Metals industry experience is helpful but not required. Strong operations leaders from other industrial environments are encouraged to apply.
We are open to a range of profiles:
- High-potential early-career leaders with strong drive and leadership aptitude
- Experienced production or operations supervisors
- Emerging plant leaders seeking a growth platform
- Monthly productivity-based bonus opportunity
- Overtime eligibility under certain conditions
- Structured leadership development progression
- Full benefits package
- Clear path toward plant management
- High-impact role in a large, complex manufacturing operation
- Opportunity to influence culture and performance
