Maintenance Mechanic General Interest

About the Role

As a Maintenance Mechanic at Primient in the Dayton, Ohio plant, you will be responsible for the safe operation, mechanical maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment that produces high‑quality ingredients for the food, beverage, and other industries.

• Perform all duties following Primient’s safety procedures.
• Install machinery and equipment using hoists, lifting equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
• Dismantle machines and move machinery using the above equipment.
• Precision alignment of machines and equipment using hoists, jacks, hand tools, scales, rules, micrometers, precision levels, plumb bobs, dial indicators, and laser alignment tools.
• Repair, perform preventive maintenance, and inspect industrial equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, fans, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
• Perform building and grounds maintenance.
• Fabricate, install, maintain, and repair utility, process, and sanitary piping and plumbing systems using hand and power tools; cut, solder, braze, weld, bend, and thread materials.
• Perform lubrication activities on industrial equipment, including oil and filter change and oil sampling.
• Work with materials necessary to fabricate, install, erect, and repair metal parts and equipment.
• Use electric and gas welding equipment to weld, braze, heat, form, cut, and fuse items associated with this craft.
• Operate forklift, boom lift, and industrial moving equipment needed to perform duties.
• Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean and orderly.
• This is a 365/24/7 operating plant—requiring weekends and holidays.

General interest application for potential upcoming openings. Must have experience with rotating shifts.

Day Shift: 7am – 3pm, Monday to Friday.

A‑Shift: 6am – 2pm on a rotational basis with varying on/off days, repeating every 28 days.

B‑Shift: 2pm – 10pm on a rotational basis with varying on/off days, repeating every 28 days.

C‑Shift: 10pm – 6am on a rotational basis with varying on/off days, repeating every 28 days.

D‑Shift: Rotating schedule of 2 days 6am‑2pm, 1 day 2pm‑10pm, 4 days 10pm‑6am, 2 days off, 1 day 6am‑2pm, 4 days 2pm‑10pm, 1 day 10pm‑6am, 2 days off, 4 days 6am‑2pm, 2 days 2pm‑10pm, 4 days off—repeating every 28 days.

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

3+ years of maintenance experience, preferred in the chemical industry and/or industrial manufacturing.

Experience with installation and alignment of pumps, motors, and gearboxes.

Experience rebuilding industrial pumps, compressors, gearboxes, and centrifuges.

Experience working on lubrication and filtration systems.

Experience prefabbing threaded pipe and welded pipe.

Pay is based on a Skill Block pay‑for‑knowledge system: starting at $35.09 per hour, increasing to $37.70 per hour after a skills evaluation. Benefits include health insurance and a 401(k) savings plan.
