Introduction to Blue Oval SK

At Blue Oval SK, we will lead the transformation of the electric vehicle (EV) battery business through partnership (Joint Venture formed by Ford and SK On) to provide products and processes to increase our customers' experience. As the future of Blue Oval SK, you will help lead the battery revolution by working alongside our teams as we build the batteries required for electric vehicle business excellence.

We are investing billions in Kentucky and Tennessee, including building three state‑of‑the‑art battery manufacturing facilities at Blue Oval City in Tennessee and Blue Oval SK Battery Park in Kentucky. These brand-new advanced manufacturing facilities will use Ford's 100‑year experience and SK On's 30+ years of EV battery expertise to become the world's best battery manufacturer.

About the Opportunity

The Material Handler will be a key member of the start‑up team, launching the facility from the ground up. It is a professional development role that offers learning across several operations and opportunities for career progression.

Wages
  • $21/hour starting wage for first 90 days of employment
  • $23.50/hour after 90 days of employment
  • Opportunity to make up to $27/hour
  • Additional $1/hr shift premium for night shift
  • Two scheduled increases in hourly wage rate each year of continuous employment
  • Regular performance bonus payments
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Ensure order production and distribution of products by safely pulling orders from manual racking and ASRS (automatic storage and retrieval system) locations.
  • Deliver production materials and supplies where needed, stage finished product for final distribution, and unload/load raw material and finished goods.
  • Contribute to the orderly operation of stock and/or materials storage area through FIFO methodologies.
  • Maintain inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory, and reporting shortages.
  • Locate materials and supplies by pulling and verifying items listed in computer systems and/or reports.
  • Maintain in‑process inventory at work centers.
  • Locate and pack material for shipping.
  • Document materials and records of units delivered and location within the appropriate computer systems.
  • Receive credit‑return material (e.g., scrap, "not‑good" cells, "not‑good" modules) from production, stage, and assist with pick up outside of building for proper disposal.
  • Prepare finished goods for shipment by identifying, pulling, serialization confirmation, loading, and securing product.
  • Ensure proper documentation for every truck is completed, copies delivered to truck drivers, and internal copies retained and properly filed.
  • Maintain material‑handling equipment by completing pre‑use inspections, making operator repairs, and ensuring proper charging cadence is followed for all electric equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery to move materials onto and off trucks, racking, and loading docks.
  • Keep inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean.
  • Learn and adhere to workplace safety regulations.
  • Effectively navigate multiple computer‑based operating systems (e.g., ASRS Interface, WMS, SAP, etc.).

Physical Demands
  • Perform physically demanding work for extended periods of time, up to 12+ hours a day.
  • Frequently and repetitively lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Push & pull heavy weighted objects with motorized assistance.
  • Stand, walk, and move for up to 12+ hours/day, including on varied and uneven terrain.
  • Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for extended periods of time, up to 12+ hours/day.
  • Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures.
  • Recognize issues in a work process and respond to safety signals using sight, touch, and hearing.
