Job SummaryFull‑time permanent position reporting to the H2 Paper Machine Superintendent. Responsible for achieving safety, reliability, cost, customer satisfaction and quality goals in the H2 Paper Machine Department.
Responsibilities- Establish, maintain, and support effective programs that promote an accident‑free workplace within the H2 Paper Machine Department.
- Align department goals with corporate and mill‑wide goals.
- Support operations in production scheduling and maintenance planning for all machine outages.
- Track operational PMs, felt usage, change‑out frequency, and inventory.
- Work with crews to update SOPs and improve lockout programs for all related equipment.
- Ensure quality standards are met or exceeded in product manufacturing.
- Maintain systems to achieve customer satisfaction.
- Promote sustainable, environmentally responsible manufacturing processes.
- Drive continuous cost improvement and maintain a competitive position.
- Improve reliability and consistency of the manufacturing process.
- Establish priorities and support maintenance of all equipment in the department.
- Maintain and improve labor relations with management and bargaining unit.
- Handle off‑hour production calls and direct mill operations during weekends/holidays as needed.
- Participate in cross‑functional corporate teams.
- Assume duties of Assistant Superintendent for vacation coverage.
- Maintain supplies and inventory related to paper‑machine equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum six (6) years’ work experience or equivalent combination of post‑secondary education and work experience.
- Pulp and paper industry experience.
- Knowledge of effective safety practices and ability to advance safety culture.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, planning, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated people‑development skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of effective maintenance practices.
- Paper‑machine experience preferred.
- SAP knowledge.
- Microsoft Office (Project, Outlook, Excel, etc.) experience.
- Competency with information databases.
