Your role will be:

  • Welds metal parts together, using gas welding and any combination of arc welding processes.
  • Performs related tasks, such as thermal cutting and grinding.
  • Repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes, and increases size of metal parts.
  • Positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
  • May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch.
  • May be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.
  • Assembly and welding of laid-out components.
  • Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.
  • Sets up equipment and welds parts using arc, gas-shielded arc, or gas welding equipment.
  • Repairs products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.
Qualifications & Benefits:
  • Proven experience as a welder/fitter: 5-10 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • D1 certification or related certifications preferred.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts:
    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization occurs.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Previous experience in heavy manufacturing.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • High School/GED required.
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred.
