Baker

Position in Auxiliary West Campus Dining, Athens Area. Anticipated start mid‑May 2026.

Posting Number: S14792P. Salary: $17.52/hr full‑time, 40 hours per week, may include evenings and weekends.

Job Summary:

Skilled work in baking pastries and bread in dining facilities. Responsible for executing recipes, ensuring quality and quantity, supervising assistance, maintaining equipment, and recording production.

Responsibilities
  • Determine amount of breads and pastries to bake each day.
  • Assign tasks to helpers and prepare records of ingredient consumption and pastry output.
  • Weigh and mix ingredients; prepare dough and bake rolls, cornbread, doughnuts, muffins, biscuits, pies, cakes and cookies; prepare icings and decorate cakes.
  • Operate baking equipment and machinery (mixers, molds, scales, ovens) and service equipment as needed.
  • Requisition supplies, keep records of formulas, and supervise kitchen staff in baking and cleaning activities.
  • Complete related work as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to adjust standard recipes for quantity variations.
  • Work long hours standing under high temperature conditions.
Physical Demands
  • Move loads up to 50 lbs and perform push/pull activities with items up to 30 lbs.
  • Perform repetitive wrist, arm, and shoulder motions with hand and finger coordination.
  • Reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, kneel.
  • Work in noisy, hot/cold environments with chemicals, cleaning equipment, dust, fumes, and odors.
  • Work long hours standing.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
